Do Japanese Beetle Traps Bring Beetles From Miles Away?
NO! Not even from across the street. On July 5th George saw thousands of beetles on his perennial garden. He didn't want to spray them in the middle of the day when the bees and butterflies were out. So, he put a trap across the street on the school fence. He went back an hour later and there were 10 beetles in the trap. He moved the trap to the edge of his yard. An hour later there were hundreds of beetles trapped. George says 50 feet is too far to offer protection. Traps should be placed every 30 feet.
