Katie's Garden

Most of our staff started as hobbiests.  We love our work because we have a passion for what we do.  And it is infectious.  Katie is in charge of fish and reptiles in Moline.  After years of working at Teske's, Katy's whole family has built an outstanding garden at her home. 

	Greeting the front entrance is a sunny perennial border.
Solving the problem of mowing a drainage ditch, this border is filled with grasses, daylillies, sedums and other perennials.
	A front shade garden features hosta, coral bells and other shade loving perennials.  Several different materials have been used to border beds.
Tidy stepping stones welcome guests to the front door.
	Whimsical art is planted in this large border that screens the vegetable garden from the play area in the back yard.
The corner of the yard is defined and softened by a large planting.   This sunny area is dominated by a very large ornamental grass.
	Katie's family does not like mowing and tending grass lawn.  Free standing flower/shrub beds reduce the lawn space, but still leave space for the kids and dogs to play.
Sheltered garden rooms give Katie's family a chance to entertain groups of varying ages at the same time.
	An old bathtub serves as an interesting water feature.
A quiet shady nook to rest from all that gardening.
	Pond and water features are fed by rain water collected in barrels.
When there is little in bloom leaf color and contrast are important elements.  Katie's currant passion is her coral bells collection.
